Inver Standing Figure marks a new departure for Fraser Taylor. This canvas is from a new series of paintings started in the Summer of 2023 which eradicates one of his distinct gestures, black line. The focus is now on shape and colour. The image is of a recurring theme, figure in landscape. Since returning to live in Glasgow in 2017, the landscape depicted is the dynamic west coast of Scotland. The colour is a vibrant mix of bright and dark tones and has a sharpness which acknowledges Taylor’s stylised graphic form of the 1980s.
